 The birth of Top Ladies of Distinction (TLOD), Inc., had its origin in the South Central area of the United States better known as Area One in Top Ladies of Distinction. Area One was designated as the area that would encompass Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana.  

Area One boasts a rich legacy of TLOD leadership, with all charter members with the exception of Major Ozell Dean of Washington, D.C., our only surviving Founder, and Mrs. Augusta R. Cash of Memphis, Tennessee. Mrs. Franchell Boswell, Mrs. Willie Lee Glass, and Mrs. LaVerne Madlock were from Tyler, Texas. Dr. Ina Bolton Brown was from Houston, Mrs. Ruth Payne was from Navasota, and Mrs. Georgia Bell Presswood was from Dallas. 

The first chartered chapter in Area One was the Rose City Chapter located in Tyler. It was chartered January 10, 1965, and still remains an active chapter.

Lady Rhonda Harris, the jewel of the West Cluster, now serves as National Area One Director.

With a focus on sisterly relations and increased service delivery to our communities across five great states, Area One vows to elevate Ladies and Teens on all levels. Area I is REAL (Ready to Elevate on All Levels) in its efforts to meet the needs of our members and the community through a strong Legacy of leadership and service, Equity across all lines, airtight Accountability, and deep appreciation for Diversity and Service. Area I continues to LEAD the way in TLOD as forerunners in innovation and a passion to grow, thrive, and serve!
